RECEPTIONIST

To work as a hotel receptionist, you must have hard and soft skills.

 

Hard skills are job specific abilities and knowledge that you gain through education, training and experience. For example, a receptionist needs to know:

·       foreign languages,

·       hotel procedures,

·       hotel software,

·       Information and Communication Technology (ICT),

·       digital security.

 

Soft skills are personal and interpersonal attitudes. They are more difficult to measure but they are very important. In a hotel you need to be:

·       Polite and helpful

·       Good communicator

·       Customer oriented

·       Team worker

·       Problem solver

·       Good listener

·       Multitasking

·       Empathetic

·       Resilient
