example

I did my working experience at “Flunch” self service from the 23rd of November to the 20st of December.

The Flunch self service is situated in Genoa Sampierdarena. It is a large self service restaurant and it can sit 100 people. It is very busy at lunch time.

My working hours were from 9:30 to 15:30. Sometimes I was on the evening shift, from 18:30 to 21:00.

I was in charge of preparing the buffet, preparing napkins, preparing plates, cleening and cutting vegetables, preparing salad bowls, bread baskets and the desserts. I had also to make sure that on each table there were salt and pepper, oil and vinegar. My tasks were also to clean the tables, cleaning the dining area and refilling salt, pepper, oil, vinegar and sauces.

Since it was a self service, I had not to serve the tables, but I had to deal with the customers and to be always smiling and helpful.

I had a good relationship with my supervisors and with my colleagues except with one who was not respectfully.

I never had any problems with customers.

I spoke mainly Italian even if twice I had to deal with foreign customers: a couple of German old ladies and an English family.

I'm satisfied with my working-experience because I learnt a lot, but the experience I did this school year was worse than the previous one because last year I was in a bar called “Perditempo” and I found it a lot more interesting.
